2024 Board of Directors Election

The co-op currently has two openings for three-year terms on the board. Three candidates have applied and qualified to run to fill the vacancies.

MARK MAHONEY: Long-time Leon County resident since 1972 and co-op member over many years, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (R.D.N.) for 37 years, member of Sustainable Tallahassee and a community gardener over the last 12 years.  Write weekly columns for the Tallahassee Democrat on health/wellness including a recent column in support of the Community Co-op sent out to all members. Recently completed the Tallahassee Active Lifelong Leadership Class (TALL). Desire to help make the Co-op a welcoming place for the entire community. 

LYNN MASIMORE: Lynn has been serving on the CCM Board since October 2023, and has consistently supported management and the store through its business development plan. She hopes to remain on the board in order to see the Co-op through to sustainability, believing that a locally owned grocery store is vital to our community and that Community Co-Op can and should continue to bring Tallahassee together over its love of good food, local business and community support.

REBECCA PETTY: My goal is to help make a difference in the community and connect more people to quality, affordable local food. My background in retail and business management, recipe development and holistic women’s wellness, along with my knowledge of the local consumer market, will bring a unique and beneficial perspective to the Board.  Together we will increase market visibility so that Community Co-op will be known as THE Local Grocery Store of Tallahassee.

The board determines the long-range vision for the co-op, provides financial oversight, and sets policies to guide the general manager in achieving our strategic priorities. Our board members are leaders, servants, stewards, and visionaries. This is a volunteer position.

Co-op board members must:

· Participate fully in board meetings. Attend all meetings of the board (normally the 4th Tuesday of February, May, August, and November, along with other special meetings or committee meetings each month, as needed.

· Prepare in advance of every board meeting by reviewing the agenda, reading the packet, and compiling your feedback/questions.

· Actively participate in board discussion via e-mail or phone between meetings as necessary.

· Attend other events, such as annual member meetings and in-store meet and greet activities.

• 4/29/24: Voting opens

• 5/28/24: Voting ends

• 5/29/24: Annual Member Meeting (5:00 pm – 8:00 pm) - introduce new board members – followed by a short board meeting to elect officers.
